Singapore strongly supports Indonesia's continuing efforts as the ASEAN Chair to facilitate dialogue between Cambodia and Thailand so that they can peacefully resolve their differences over their ongoing border conflict, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesman said yesterday.

In response to media queries about recent developments on the conflict, the spokesman said: "We understand that Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa intends to visit Cambodia and Thailand soon. It is important for both countries to work closely with Indonesia, as the ASEAN Chair, to implement the agreements reached during the Informal ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting on Feb 22."

As the 18th ASEAN Summit will be held in less than a fortnight, the spokesman said it is hoped that an agreement can be reached by that time.
