ETHICAL FASHION SHOW
The Spring/Summer 2011 season saw the return Ethical Fashion Show to Paris Fashion Week—its seventh edition in four years. Taking place at Docks en Seine, a new concept space in the French capital, the showcase-cum-salon gathered over 80 international designers for four days of catwalk shows, panel discussions, and designer exhibits. Because the show’s theme echoed the United Nations’ International Year of Biodiversity, the designers were picked to raise awareness about the fragility and richness of our ecosystem.

In addition to an opening catwalk that featured one-of-a-kind designs by Ciel, Tara Baoth Mooney, and show founder Isabelle Quehe, two other runway shows celebrated designers from Peru and India, respectively. The Peru catwalk included eight designers—Anaro & Skyum, Jenny Duarte, Art Atlas, Naty Munoz Olivas, Calicampo, Raymisa, Eco Valley Wildlife, Tejidos Nancybell, GC Purivian Design, and Vela Vera—while India was represented by Grassroot, a new organic-organic collection by Anita Dongre that charmed with its floaty summer dresses.
The show concluded with an award ceremony that recognized innovative designers such as French label The Fees of Bengal, which won the Sublime Award for Creativity. Other winners were Jux from the Netherlands and A & K Classics, ShiFuMi, and Cyclus from France.
